Thanks David, I followed your advice. I also followed some advice that
Keith Manley sent me in my personal email that said to run "sudo apt-get
install netselect-apt". After doing both things, apt-get seems to be
working much quicker. I'm not sure which did it or if it was a
combination of both but it works better now.

sudo apt-get install apt
I was able to get through an update last night (I think). How do I
upgrade the apt package after that? Is it just "sudo apt-get
upgrade"? Thanks.

We believe this is caused by the version of apt getting out of sync
with the version of the repository. It is related to cryptographic
signing of the packages and the repository. Do as much of an
apt-get update as you can and then try to upgrade the apt package.

I was wondering if I was the only one having issues trying to use
apt-get with alpha 2? It seems to be very slow and times out a lot.
I have not been very successful in installing stuff. Is it the
repositories that it's pointing to or something else? Thanks.
